- Put red flowers, rice and Kumkum, turmeric etc. in water in a copper pot.
- Chant the mantras of the Sun God, such as 'Om Suryaya Namah' or 'Om Ghrini Suryaya Namah' or 'Om Adityaye Namah'.
- Light up a ghee lamp and show incense(dhoop) to the Sun.
- Offer jaggery, Tilkut, fruits or other home-made sweets to the Sun God.
- Perform Aarti at the end.
