Look, there are no set rules that dictate what you should eat or what you shouldn't during the Navaratri Fast. Some people fast for nine days by eating only one meal of pure vegetarian food, some people eat fruits, and some even fast for nine days by eating two cloves. Yes, everything depends on one's faith. But to this day, we follow whatever my guru tells us, which I'm sharing here. If you're observing a Navratri fast, then this information is for you exactly what you are looking for.
As we know during the fast there are some certain foods need to take rather than common foods we take on daily basis. You should first avoid eating any prepared food from outside, no matter how hygienically it's prepared. However, you can't prepare it according to the fast. Keep this in mind: What guarantee is there that the food served in restaurants is free of adulteration, and in what condition was it prepared?
Avoid Tamashik Things
Onions and garlic are absolutely forbidden. If you find a recipe on my blog, any other food blog, or YouTube channel that contains onions and garlic, don't share it. Ginger is usually added to festival fast recipes.
Avoid Roti, Rice, Dal
No roti, rice, lentils, and beans: No one wants to eat lentils because these are considered grains, not fruits. Navratri fasts are observed by eating fruits only. Can't you do this much? What are you doing for 365 days of the year? Perhaps you can do it for 5-7 days. To gain something, you must lose something, only then can your spiritual practice be successful.
Use Rock Salt
Regular salt is not used, and rock salt, also known as rock salt, is used instead. You can use rock salt, or rock salt.
Powders like turmeric, asafoetida, mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, garam masala, and coriander powder are prohibited.
Avoid Alcohol & Non-veg Foods
Alcohol, non-vegetarian food, eggs, smoking, and sex are prohibited during this holy period. If this is food, then why the fast?
Tea is allowed, but coffee is prohibited. Homemade coconut milk can be cooked.
Maize, corn, maize, wheat, sorghum, millet, oats, flaxseed, and chia seeds are prohibited. All grains are prohibited.
Rice and rice flour, wheat flour or atta, maida (all-purpose flour, semolina), and gram flour (gram flour or gram flour) are prohibited. All grains are prohibited.
Use Cow Ghee
Fats like coconut oil, peanut oil or groundnut oil and ghee can be used for frying. Avoid oils made from spices like palm oil, refined oils, olive oil, or sunflower oil.
So, friends, that’s all about the foods, you should not take during the Navaratri fast and you should take food once in the day. But if you are unable, you can take some fruits or juice during the day time. Avoid taking foods at night time this is totally against the Fasting.
