Kut is The Cultural Harvest Celebration (कुट सांस्कृतिक फसल उत्सव है)

Manipur is abundant in natural resources. The people here are very simple and healthy due to the full of pollution free environment and natural resources. There are many festivals here people worship to the nature. One of them is the festival which is celebrated after Kut Festival. This lively and Significance of Chawang Kut joyful event, also known as “Chawang Kut” or “Khodou”.

Manipur has various tribes of Kuki-Chin-Mizo groups, these are special tribal communities here which celebrates Kut festival.

Kut festival is a unique festival which is celebrated after the harvest of crops in their courtyards and farms. This festival is organized every year in November.

Story of Chawang Kut Festival

Chawang Kut, popularly known as Kut festival, Kut is a festival celebrated with great energy and enthusiasm. During the festival, people from all communities of Manipur come together to witness this wonderful festival.

Chawang Kut is celebrated every year to honor the blessings of the deity for a good harvest. It also marks the end of the harvest season. Roughly translated, 'chawang' means 'autumn' and kut means 'harvest'. Earlier, the Kut festival would last for several days and the community would perform several rituals. After the main essential rituals, the village priest distributes “ju” a local made liquor to the local people and other visitors to the village. This country liquor is made from stale rice. Those who enjoy the festival with cultural performances of traditional forms of folk dances and singing after drinking rice beer. These beautiful events are accompanied by sports competitions and huge, luxurious feasts with different recipes distributed among the local people. People of all classes celebrate this festival enthusiastically.
