About Saphala Ekadashi 2025

Meaning of Saphala Ekadashi(सफला एकादशी)

Yudhisthira asked Krishna, Hey Vasudeva! I am very fortunate to be understanding this world and this world is in your presence, my fascination with this world is slowly breaking and I am beyond the Maya. Oh Kesava!, always give us a place at your feet.

Yudhisthira said that each Ekadashi has a different significance. You have already shared it. I would like to request you that this is the Ekadashi of Krishna Paksha in the month of Pausha which is called Saphala Ekadashi. What is the significance of this Saphala Ekadashi?

Lord Krishna says, Oh Kuntishrestha! Every Ekadashi has its own importance, by observing the Ekadashi fast, a person gets everything and in the end he attains salvation, so that a person is not trapped in the cycle of birth and death every time.

The fruits obtained by the rituals of Ekadashi Vrata are not obtained by the great sacrifices.

I want to tell you about successful Ekadashi. Listen carefully.

Importance of Saphala Ekadashi

Ekadashi called 'Saphala' is celebrated in the Krishna Paksha of the month of Pausha. Lord Narayana and Goddess Lakshmi should be worshiped on that day. Everyone in this world knows that Lord Vishnu is the best among the gods, similarly Ekadashi Tithi and Ekadashi Vrata is the best of all fasts.

Sri Kirshna said, Hey Rajan! Being fresh in Brahma Muhurt, wearing clean clothes, and chanting name mantras on Saphala Ekadashi Pour and worship Srihari and Lakshmi with a lamp. There is a special rule for giving lamps on the evening of Saphala Ekadashi.

Vaishnavas should keep vigil at night. Vigilance is very important in Ekadashi, because the fruits that the vigilant gets are not obtained even after thousands of years of penance.

Saphala Ekadashi Vrat Katha

Nripashrestha! Listen to the auspicious story of 'Saphala Ekadashi' now, there was a state named as Champavati. King Mahishmat is the king of Champavati. The king had had five sons. The older one which was always involved in sinful deeds. He was a gay and a prostitute. He spent his father's wealth in sinful acts. He always condemned evil, the Vaishnavas and the gods.

Seeing his behavior and activities, the king named him Lumbhak. Seeing his son as such a criminal, King Mahishmat and his brothers got together and expelled him from the kingdom. Lumbhak went into the dense forest. While there, he plundered almost the entire city. One day when he came into town to burglarize at night the cops caught him. But when he told himself to be the son of King Mahishmat, the soldiers recognized him.

Then he returned to the forest and began to eat meat and fruit from the trees. There was a very old and big pipal tree, which was the resting place of that wicked one, was many years old. The tree was considered a great god in that forest. Sinful intellect used to dwell there. One day, under the influence of some accumulated merit, he observed the fast of Ekadashi. On the tenth day of the Krishna Paksha of the month of Pausha, sinful Lumbhak ate the fruits of the trees and his body began to shiver from the cold because he was naked. At that time he was neither asleep nor resting. He was dealing with a lot of problems, and his whole body was suffering and feeling helpless and fainted.

Even when the sun came up, he did not come to consciousness. He was unconscious even on Saphala Ekadashi. When it was noon, he came to his senses. Then with a sudden glance he rose from his seat and staggered into the woods, staggering as if with a limp. He was weak and suffered from hunger. Rajan! Lumbhak kept returning to the resting place until he came back to his resting place. Then he asked for all the fruits in abundance at the root of the peepal tree and said: 'Lord Vishnu, be satisfied with these fruits.

Thus, suddenly he observed this vow. At that moment a voice came from the sky, 'Prince! You will attain the kingdom and son by the fast of 'Saphala Ekadashi' After accepting the boon, his form became divine. Then his best intelligence was invested in the bhajans of Lord Vishnu.

Equipped with divine ornaments, he ruled the kingdom as Nishkantaka means sinless. He continued to rule the kingdom for fifteen years. He had a son named Manojya. When he grew up, Lumbhaka immediately left Mamata of the kingdom, gave her to his son, and went to Lord Krishna himself, where man never mourns.

Krishna said, Rajan! Thus, a person who observes the best fast of Safala Ekadashi enjoys happiness in this world and attains salvation after death. Blessed are those people in the world who observe the fast of 'Safala Ekadashi', their birth is successful.

Hey Kunti Shresth! By reading, hearing its glory and acting accordingly, man gets the fruits of Rajasuya Yajna.

I mean, any person known, can be in the presence of Lord Vishnu. Whatever you see in this world is not yours, when you were young then money, wealth, children, honor, prestige were all of yours. When you grow old you see everything, but say nothing is yours and your karma goes with you only, everything else stays here.
