About Ganesh Chaturthi 2025

Meaning & Significance of Ganesh Chaturthi

Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated on the fourth day after the new moon that occurs in the month of Bhadrapada on the Hindu calendar.

Ganesh Chaturthi, also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi or Ganesh Utsav, is a highly revered Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of Lord Ganesha, the beloved elephant-headed deity. Considered the remover of obstacles, Lord Ganesha is often invoked at the start of any new endeavour, intellectual pursuit, or business venture.

Why People Celebrates Ganesh Puja

Ganesh Chaturthi is one of the most auspicious Hindu festivals in India, and is also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi or Ganesh Utsav. It is widely observed in India and marks the birth of Lord Ganesha. It is believed that Lord Ganesha removes all the obstacles and is worshipped at the beginning of any new activity, such as a new business venture, endeavour, or intellectual pursuits.

The origin of the celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi can be traced back to the Maratha Empire in the 17th century when Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj promoted nationalism and unity among Indians. Ganesh Chaturthi is a 10-day festival celebrated with great enthusiasm across the country. Lord Ganesha, also known as Gajanana, Dhumraketu, Ekdanta, Vakratunda, and Siddhi Vinayaka, is often termed as god of wisdom, prosperity and good fortune.

Before Ganesh Chaturthi arrives, people decide to build a puja mandap. Yah puja is performed everywhere like school, college, office, business, factory, society and community.

Ganesh Puja has brought a new hope. People come to their pavilion with the same idea that their pavilion is the best. Bade Bade idols of Ganesha are made and then his worship is done.

Looking at Ganesh Chaturthi or Ganesh Puja Mandap, it feels as if you have participated in the puja. The remaining ones are wearing new clothes. New dishes, modak, kheer, laddu etc. are all distributed in the house, then the bhog is placed near Ganesh ji, and Pushpanjali is visited and the prasad is taken. There are many songs going on. This puja continues for about 10 days, just as it continues from Ganesh Chaturthi till Lekar Purnami. People passing through Ass Pass have seen the beauty of the puja mandap.

Then one fine day Ganesha's name appears. In Visharjan, DJ, mike, light, sound, dance, all the entertainment is done and in the river or ponds, the doctor's statue is visible. Ganesh Puja is celebrated the maximum number of times in India. This festival fulfills everyone's needs, everyone celebrates this puja.
