About New Year Holiday 2025
The Julian Calendar, proposed by Julius Caesar in 46 BC, was a reform of the Roman calendar. It took effect by order on 1 January 45 BC. This calendar became the dominant calendar in the Roman Empire and much of the Western world for more than 1,600 years thereafter. In the Roman calendar, the year began on January 1, and this remained the beginning of the year even after the Julian Reformation. However, even after local calendars aligned with the Julian calendar, they started the New Year on different dates.
New Year's Day
New Year's Day is an optional holiday. Employment and leave laws in India allow employees to choose a limited number of holidays from the list of optional holidays. Some employees may choose to take the day off; however, most offices and businesses remain open.
