About Panchayatiraj Divas 2025
The Panchayati Raj Day is celebrated every year on 24 April by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj. Panchayati Raj Day is celebrated in memory of the 73rd Amendment Act of the Constitution, 1992, which came into force in the year 1993. The day celebrates the national local self-governance and democratic decentralization. The Ministry of Panchayati Raj, the nodal ministry, works on the mission of empowerment, enablement, and accountability of Panchayati Raj Institutions to ensure inclusive growth with social justice and efficient delivery of services. A strong local self-governance will strengthen rural India's commitment to self-reliance, thereby promoting social, economic and cultural change and transforming the lives of our rural population.
National Panchayati Raj Day will serve as a significant occasion as well as a stepping stone to raise awareness about India in 2047 and to act at an accelerated pace in this regard and will also build institutional, individual, cross-organizational and operational capacities to achieve the global SDG agenda by 2030 in the local context.
