The Significance of Raksha Bandhan

Raksha Bandhan is a very famous and ancient festival in Sanatan Dharm. It is mostly celebrating in every part of India. It is observed on the last day of the Hindu lunar calendar month of Bhadra Month, which basically comes in August Month or Shravan Month as per Sanatan Calendar.

The word "Raksha Bandhan" means “the bond of protection”, obligation, or care is now principally applied to this ritual. In this festival sister ties up the “Rakhi” thread on the brother’s wrist, then offer roli, moli, flowers, show up the lamp to her brother, then offer sweets.

Raksha Bandhan Story

We have found several stories in Indian history which describe the history of starting this festival. The story of Raksha Bandhan has related today to Hindu mythology and the Hindu epic Mahabharata.

Bhadra Purnima is also called as Rakshi Purnima. The festival of Raksha Bandhan is celebrated on the day of Bhadra Purnima, also, bathing in the Ganges and donations are made on the day of Bhadra Purnima. Bhadra Purnima is one of the auspicious day as per Sanatan Dharma.
