Significance of Ramadan Month
The Islamic calendar follows the phases of the moon, commonly known as the lunar cycle. As a result, the holy month of Ramadan comes about 10 days earlier each year in the Gregorian calendar. The start date of Ramadan for 2026 is expected to fall around February 18th or 19th with a possible variation of a few days after the sighting of the moon in Mecca or the respective countries. Ramadan, which lasts for 29 or 30 days, will end around March 20, with the celebration day of Eid al-Fitr estimated to begin around March end of the week, again with a possible difference of a few days.
