Who is Thiruvalluvar?
Thiruvalluvar(तिरुवल्लुवर), also known as Valluvar, lived in the 4th century BCE. He is best known for his work Thirukkural, which is a collection of 1,330 couplets (Kural) on love, morality, political and economic matters. The text is divided into three parts with teachings on Dharma as righteousness, Artha as wealth and Kama as love. He was a poet and philosopher; he is considered a cultural icon by Tamils. Tamil people fondly call him Valluvar. His most popular work is Thirukkur(तिरुक्कुर), a collection of couplets on morality, politics, economy, and love.
