Lambodara Sankashti Chaturthi fast comes in Pausha Month. Sankashti Chaturthi Vrat Katha is an important story that teaches us about faith and devotion towards Lord Ganesha. Whoever observes the fast of Sankashti Ganesh Chaturthi definitely gets the desired result. This fast is observed only when all the doors are closed for you, you do not see any way out, some big disaster has come over you, or you are completely ruined due to financial crisis. If you observe this fast with devotion in mind and words, you can definitely reach your goal.

This story also teaches us how we should face the troubles coming in our life and overcome them with the blessings of Lord Ganesha. Sankashti Chaturthi, also known as Sankat Chauth in regional name, it is a Sanatan festival dedicated to Lord Ganesha.

There are 12 names of Lord Ganesha associated with 12 Sankat Chauth Fast these are like following:

  • Lambodara,
  • Dwijapriya,
  • Balachandra,
  • Vikata,
  • Ekadanta,
  • Krishna Pingala,
  • Gajanana,
  • Bahula,
  • Vighnaraja,
  • Vakratunda,
  • Ganadhipa, and
  • Akhuratha.

Vakratunda Sankashti Chaturthi comes in Magha Month, is dedicated to Shri Lord Ganesh, because this Chaturthi is named after him and Ganesh Sankashti Chaturthi fast is observed on every Krishna Paksha Chaturthi Tithi.

This auspicious occasion is very important for the devotees, as it is believed that devotion on this day helps in removing enmity and brings prosperity and peace.

Lambodara Sankashti Chaturthi: Significance

Lord Ganesha is the remover of obstacles, Ganesh is known as Vighnaharta, it means the destroyer of all obstacles. Observing this day is believed to help devotees overcome challenges in life.

It is said that fasting and praying on this day bring material happiness and wealth, joy in life to devotees.

The rituals and fasting promote discipline, self-control, and a deeper connection with divinity.

Sankashti Chaturthi Puja Vidhi

  • On the day of Sankashti Chaturthi, after waking up early in the morning and taking a bath, meditate on Lord Ganesha and take a vow to fast.
  • Now, the place of worship will be decorated with Gangajal. Then buy red coloured clothes at the place of worship. After this, install the idol or picture of Lord Ganesha.
  • First of all, worship Goddess Gauri and then do Jalabhishek of Lord Ganesha.
  • After this, offer flowers, fruits, roli, moli, Kalawa and Akshat to Lord Ganesha, if possible, offer 108 Durva or else 21 Durva to him.
  • Offer yellow colour fruits and Naivedya, Ladoo, Modak and Tilkut as bhog to Lord Ganesha.
  • Finally, do the Aarti of Lord Ganesha while reciting the fasting story of Sankashti Chaturthi.
  • After performing the Aarti, pray to Lord Ganesha saying, I am brainless and ignorant, I do not know anything about your Puja Vidhi, Mantra, Yantra.
  • Fast the whole day, eat fruits or foods made in fruits or roots in the evening after Chandra Darshan and Chandra Puja. Do not eat at night, you can drink water.
  • After seeing the moon in the evening, offer Arghya to the moon and end your fast.

To receive special blessings, you must chant the mantras of Lord Ganesha on the day of Lambodar Sankashti Chaturthi. ॐ गं गणपतये नमो नमः

You should do this fast at least 12, 21, 41 Chaturthi or till your condition becomes favourable depends on you.
