How Vrischika Sankranti Formed?
When the Sun enters Scorpio after staying in Libra for 30 days, that day is called Scorpio or Vrischika Sankranti. Along with worshiping the Sun God on the day of Sankranti, bathing in holy rivers and donating on the day of Sankranti also gives virtue. In the month of November or Margashirsha, the Sun God transits into Scorpio and it is called Scorpio Sankranti.
Significance of Vrischika Sankranti
The Sun planet stays in any zodiac for about 30 days. Sankranti is celebrated on the day when the Sun God changes the zodiac. What to Do in Vrischika Sankranti?
- Sankranti Puja Vidhi is very simple, you can follow the steps given below:
- Get up early in the morning, take a bath and wear clean clothes, it is very good to wear red or yellow clothes.
- Stand facing the East and offer “Arghya” to Lord Surya Narayana.
- Put red flowers, rice, Kumkum, Ganga Jal, turmeric etc. in water in a copper pot.
- While offering Arghya to Lord Sun, chant Sun God's mantras, such as 'Om Suryaya Namah' or 'Om Ghrini Suryaya Namah' or 'Om Adityaya Namah'.
- Light a ghee lamp and burn incense sticks and offer Arghya to Lord Sun God.
- Offer jaggery, fruits or other home-made sweets as Naivedya to Sun God.
- Finally perform Mangal Aarti.

- Apologize for any mistake made during the puja.
- Donate grains, clothes, money or any service according to your capacity.
- Feeding green fodder to cows is also considered auspicious on this day.
- Avoid tamasic food on this day, eat pure and Saatvik food. Tamasic food includes non-vegetarian food, alcohol and sex.
