Sharadiya Navratri Panchami Tithi(नवरात्रि पंचमी तिथि) & Skandamata Puja 2026

The term “Skanda” means Lord Kartikeya who is the younger son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Skandamata means the mother of Skanda or Kartikeya. Goddess Skandamata is worshipped on the fifth day of Navratri, and she is frequently portrayed riding a furious lion with child Kartikeya in her lap. Skandamata is commonly portrayed with four hands, holding lotus flowers in her upper two hands. In one of her right hands, she holds Kartikeya, and her other right hand is positioned in Abhaya Mudra.

It is said that one who worships Skandamata, definitely gets the happiness of a son. Those who do not have children also worship Skandmata on this day. The most important thing is that worshiping Skandamata brings blessings of Goddess Skandamata and Lord Kartikeya.
