Meaning and Importance of Jyeshtha Amavasya

According to mythology, Jyeshtha Amavasya is very important. Because Shani Dev was born on Jyeshtha Amavasya, so the religious importance of Jyeshtha Amavasya increases.

In Vedic astrology, Shani Dev is the factor of service and karma. When Shani is good in the horoscope, then the person has everything that he wants. And when Shani is not good, then whatever a person gets in life, that too with struggle.

It is said that by worshiping and praying to Shani Dev on the day of Jyeshtha Amavasya, one gets his blessings. Shani is the god of justice, he has been called the magistrate and the judge of Kali Yug. Shani never shows bias in whatever result he gives. As will be your karma, you will get the same result.

Jyeshtha Amavasya Vrat Katha

According to mythology, a poor Brahmin lived in a state named Koshal. Due to lack of drugs, his daughter was not able to get married. One day a Brahmin couple, troubled by their poverty, asked a sadhu for a solution. The sadhu told them that there is a washerman in the nearby village who lives with his son and daughter-in-law.

If your daughter takes the services of that washerman, the washerman will give him the Sindoor from her “Maang”, which will ensure the marriage of the girl.

She was surprised that the girl started doing all the work of the washerman's house and the washerman and his daughter-in-law did not know about it. One day the washerman asked his daughter-in-law how will you get so much work so soon? The daughter-in-law said, I thought you do all this work. The washerwoman was shocked and kept an eye on them. In the morning when the washerman woke up, he saw that a girl was doing all the work of the house.

They were living like this for many days. One day the washerman asked the girl the reason for this. The girl told the washerman everything told by the sadhu. Hearing this, the washerwoman gave him the Sindoor from her Maang and at the same time the washerwoman's husband died. Saddened by this, the girl left the house and took 108 pieces of bricks near a Peepal tree, saluted them 108 times and started throwing them one by one. By doing this, the girl brought the washerwoman's husband back to life. The washerwoman became very happy to see her husband alive.

After that, the girl got auspicious results by worshipping the Peepal tree and circling it. After a few days, she got married in a good family and her life started moving happily.
