Significance of Vaishakha or Baishakha Amavasya
Amavasya is just the opposite of Purnima. In the Purnima Moon get visible in the full view form with bright light. Whereas in case of Amavasya, Moon will not be visible in the sky that’s why sky will look totally dark or black on the day.
Moon transits as per Paksh Bal that is called Waxing and Waning Moon. On the basis of transit of Moon, Sanatan religion people’s calendar calculated for the whole year.
All the puja, muhurats, auspicious occasions, marriage, griha pravesh based on the Moon’s transition. Moon holds a great importance in Hindu religion.
Some people observe fast on this day and some people also observe on the Purnima day, they do fast for whole day and break it after sighting new moon on Chandra Darshan day in the evening.
This fasting is also called Vrata, which is dedicated to Chandra Dev, that is also called the god of the moon.
The god of Moon i.e., Chandradev is the most important Navgrahas of Hinduism. He is the lord of emotions and divine grace. He is considered as the nurture of plant and animal life. Moon is called a feminine planet in the Vedic Astrology.
When Moon is afflicted or gives malefic results. People worship Chandra Dev on these days to get a favor or gain as good fortune and prosperity in their lives by the blessings of Moon.
It helps in accessing progress in lives. Reduces the delays and obstacles, depression in life. Make the mind calm and provides coolness and peacefulness to the mind.
On the day of Amavasya, some people pray for salvation in the life. Worshiping forefathers and ancestors which is called Pitralog on this day is considered as the most important part of the day.
