Significance of Margashirsha Amavasya (अगहन अमावस्या
Amavasya is the last day of Krishna Paksha of Margashirsha month. According to Sanatan Dharma, it is believed that, Margashirsha Amavasya is very auspicious for Hindus to perform Pitru Puja, which aims to liberate the souls of ancestors.
Religiously, people follow various rituals on this day, including fasting and praying to reduce the negative effects of Shani Dev. Lighting a diya under a Peepal tree is considered a powerful remedy, especially on the occasion of Amavasya Tithis.
