significance of Kanya Pongal
The fourth and last day of Pongal is known as Kanya Pongal. It is also known as Tiruvallur. On this day the house is cleaned and decorated with flowers. Along with making Rangoli in the main gate, an archway made of coconut and mango leaves is installed in the main gate.
On this day, sugarcane is kept in the open and various dishes made from milk, rice, sugar and ghee are offered to the Sun God. Pongal festival is one of the most important festivals of India.

The second day is dedicated to the worship of the Sun God, and is called Surya Pongal. The third day is called Mattu Pongal, on which the cows and oxen of the household are worshipped. And the fourth day is celebrated as Kaanum Pongal.
It is also called Kaanum Pongal, everyone embraces each other, giving the festival a meaningful conclusion by focusing on human relationships and community spirit, following the celebrations of Lord Indra, the Sun God, and the cattle over the previous three days. On this day, all the family members, relatives, and neighbors meet each other with great respect, and then the festival concludes.
