Bhogi Pongal
The third day of Pongal is known as Mattu(मट्टू) Pongal. On this day, there is a ritual to worship agricultural animals like bull, bull, cow etc. On this day bulls and cows are decorated and their horns are painted. There is a traditional game of bull race named as “Jallikattu(जल्लीकट्टू)” is organized on this day.
In Tamil language, the word "Mattu" means bull on the occasions of Pongal people celebrates game cattle, particularly bulls that play a vital role by working hard to help the farmers to raise crops on their fields in their local areas.
