About Manabasa Gurubara-Second Pali 2025

Manabasa Gurubara-Second Pali

We have already told, about the first pali of Manabasa Gurubara. Here we will discuss about the Second Pali fo Margashrisha Gurubara Manabasa.

In Odisha, people worship Goddess Lakshmi on Gurubare  Manabasa(ମାଣବସା) which comes on Thursday during the lunar month of Margashirsha. It is believed that Goddess Lakshmi resides in every house during Gurubara, so the female members of the house worship the goddess with great and rich devotion.

Margashrisha Manabasa Puja Vidhi

A lot is observed before worshiping the Manabasa Gurubara, because it does matter what kind of day it is, Manbasa is not worshiped on Graha Kaal, Sharan Kaal, Sankranti or Amavasya. Some people also believe Purnima, worship is not done on that day.

So, you must know that a day before i.e. on Wednesday, the house is cleaned thoroughly by watering it.

Goddess Lakshmi likes the clean house, so all the women clean their house before worshiping.

Adding Jhotti Chita, Rangoli after cleaning the house by women decorate the house in different types of rangoli or Chita on the floor of the house which looks very beautiful.

Jhotti Chita is made from white rice paste. Women make huts in many shapes like lotus flower, Lakshmi Charan, elephant, peacock, different types of floral designs etc.

Women are making special Prasad on Manbasa, which is already mentioned in the First Pali of Gurubara Manabasa.

In this puja, people do not buy any readymade prasad from the market. They make their prasad at their homes only.

Various types of traditional Odia dishes are made during the puja such as: Manda Pitha, Chakuli, Atakali, Dahi-Pakahala, Kosala Saag Recipe, Muan, Chitau, Vada, Poda Pitha, Khichdi, Mix vegetable curry etc.

Manda Pitha is distributed in white rice. Some people also call it Modak. This is a Pitha which is celebrated in some festivals of Odisha.

First of all, need to install Kalash Sthapana, once it is done. Do Mahalakshmi Pujan as per Vidhi already mentioned in the First Pali of Manabasa Gurubara. Please click here.

After that need to read “Maha Lakshmi Purana” Maha Lakshmi Kavi Purana written by Balaram Das. A famous poet in Odisha. Without this, the puja is considered incomplete. Whatever be the fast, that puja is not considered complete without reading the Purana.

However, nowadays, some people get surprised and put Lakshmi Puran in their mobile and leave it near the puja chowki. But this is not the right way. You can also listen to it yourself other time. But physically you need to read the Lakshmi Puran. It will take around 1hour, if you read it continuously with a right pronunciation, right chanting and right speed.

When Lakshmi Puran is completed, all the members of the house together take the prasad of Goddess Mahalakshmi. The prasad offered to Lakshmi is not given to any outsider or close one and the remaining prasad is not thrown away.

In the evening, before sunset, incense, lamp, naivedya, flowers etc. are offered to Goddess Lakshmi.

If any mistake is made knowingly or unknowingly, then definitely apologize to Goddess Lakshmi. After that, the chowki of Goddess Lakshmi is lifted from the place of worship.

Women should wear a red or white combination saree during the Manbasa Thursday. No one will wear a black or white saree and no one will wear a multicoloured saree.

Remember that, the family members should not eat food from anyone house on this Thursday. Especially those who have kept a fast. Prasad should be prepared in a very Satvik manner, i.e. it should not contain onion, garlic and non-vegetarian items. While making Prasad, it should not be seen by outsiders.

It is said that the bigger the mind of a person, the bigger is his God. Rest you are wise yourself, understand it yourself what I wanted to say here.
